CREATING A LEARNING CORNER USING WHAT WE HAVE

After seven months of no preschool, I decided Quinn needed a space of her own for online classes on Outschool, arts & crafts and other activities. Of course I wanted to buy ALL the cute things I saw on Pinterest but instead I decided to create her learning corner using things we already had. I purchased a couple of inexpensive items to tie it all together and she already had the table and chairs with a dollhouse on it. While that was cute, I wanted her to be able to draw, color and create without having to ask us to bring out her stuff and also have it ready for classes. So here's what I did:

  • Found 3 plant pots that I shuffled around to use for crayons, markers, pencils, pens, paint/brushes and stamps

  • Repurposed a woven basket for flash cards and her Mindful Kids Cards

  • Placed a push pin in the wall and used twine to hang a large roll of paper

  • Moved her easel from the living room to her corner

  • Used an existing frame and purchased these magnetic frames and a few prints from Etsy

  • Used a menu holder my MIL gave me that I was going to get rid of and flipped it around to hold her completed work

ALSO HERE IS THE BEFORE...

I'm pretty happy with the time and little cost to turn this corner into something more useful for her and us. I'm also glad I took the time to pause and think about what we already had before buying a ton of stuff. What spaces have you created using what you already have? Please share!
