ENDING THE YEAR LIGHT: REFLECTING ON THE SEASON AND RESETTING WITH INTENTION

In my last post (almost four months ago!), I shared an article I wrote for Best Holistic Life about transitioning into the holiday season with grace and ease. As we near the end of the holidays and the new year approaches, I wanted to reflect on how this season actually unfolded for me, and how I’m thinking about resetting for the year ahead.

Did I get overwhelmed? Absolutely. Did I bite off more than I could chew at times? Yes. But I also honored boundaries and gave myself grace along the way. I often had to remind myself that we are all different, and don’t all have the same capacity and that’s okay.

I didn’t keep gifting as simple as I had hoped, and I realized that I don’t actually love wrapping a lot of gifts, which is a good reminder for next year. I did send holiday cards and kept it to 50, which felt manageable. I kept decor and crafting simple, and didn’t bake—which, honestly, I never really do, so that felt aligned. I volunteered for a project at my daughter’s school about a month before Christmas and felt pretty overwhelmed at times. But I also said no to events and opportunities that didn’t align with my priorities, and I stopped forcing myself to produce more than I could realistically manage.

Staying away from excessive content and news helped keep overwhelm at bay. I also did a light whole-house declutter, which I love doing at the end of the year, and made space for what matters most. I spent meaningful time with friends and family, including two mini trips with my sisters and cousins—small breaks that felt grounding and restorative in the midst of the holiday busyness.

This season reminded me that letting go isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating space for what matters, honoring your limits, and giving yourself permission to do less but with intention. Even with a few bumps along the way, I feel lighter, more grounded, and ready to carry these lessons into the new year.

The truth is, we can reset at any time. Whether it’s the change of a season, the start of a new year, or even just a moment that feels right. As I look ahead, my focus will continue to be on health—both mental and physical, being present with my family, and cultivating gratitude for what we already have, rather than striving for what we think we should have or be. I’m also looking forward to working on what’s next for Well Edited Co., including a reset workshop coming this spring.
