TO PRODUCT OR NOT?

Buying product is one of the most exciting parts of the organizing process. I get it, trust me - who doesn't love all the perfectly curated pantries and closets we see on Instagram and Pinterest? But before you head over to the Container Store or Amazon for ALL the goods consider the following:

Declutter and categorize first

If you're just starting the process and haven't decluttered and categorized your items do that first. If your space is all set then proceed to...

Use what you have

Take a look at what you might already own before purchasing. Check if you have storage bins and baskets in one place that you can repurpose in another. This is the ideal situation to both save you money and have less of an environmental impact but if not then...

Keep it simple and do what makes sense

When planning out your space be sure to store and bin what really needs to be. Sometimes shelves work perfectly fine without a basket and drawers work without drawer dividers. By doing this the product can can be used in another area if it doesn't suit that space anymore. Once you've done this...

Create a plan

It's easy to get carried away once you start shopping so create a budget, take measurements and have a list for each room/category (and stick to the list). And last...

Have fun

Once you're done reusing or purchasing product put everything in it's place, label if needed and enjoy your freshly organized space!
