I was talking to my sister the other day about the updates she's been making to her home. She told me she was motivated to start making updates when a friend said to her, "Don’t you want to come home, feel happy and enjoy being there?" It resonated with me because that is the main reason I love helping people with their homes. Although I'm not an interior designer or renovator - my goal is to help people feel good in their space. The decluttering and organizing part really matters because it contributes to the overall vibe of a space from the start.
Nowadays, we are spending more and more time at home and with that we see tons of home updates and renovations with home decor and plant babies flying off the shelves. While freshening up and beautifying your home matters - what good is it if you're overwhelmed with clutter and can't find anything? This is why the decluttering and organizing part should come first and should be maintained even when we aren't spending as much time at home(unless you're a homebody like me).
Having a decluttered and organized space that feels good matters because it helps restore balance between mind and body and helps us deal with overwhelm. Let's be honest - there's a lot of that right now.
One thing I hear interior designers talk about is creating places that speak to all five of our senses with sight usually being the most obvious and while furniture and decor help make a space yours, having a clutter free and tidy space is a great starting point to making home your happy place!
